About This Role
RGP is seeking a Benefits Accountant to support the financial accounting and reporting of employee benefit programs. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate general ledger activity, reconciliations, and compliance for benefit-related accounts, while partnering closely with HR, Payroll, Tax, and Finance teams. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and a focus on accuracy, integrity, and continuous process improvement.

This opportunity requires a hybrid presence in South Atlanta. 
What You Will Work On
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to employee benefits, including health plans, retirement plans (e.g., 401(k)), pensions, and other compensation-related programs
  • Reconcile benefit-related balance sheet accounts and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Ensure benefit accounting complies with GAAP, SOX, and applicable regulatory requirements; assist with internal and external audits
  • Analyze benefit-related transactions and variances, providing insights to support financial reporting and decision-making
  • Partner with HR, Payroll, Tax, and Operations teams to ensure accurate data flow, reporting integrity, and timely issue resolution
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to benefits and compensation costs
  • Provide data and documentation to support tax filings, audits, and compliance reviews related to employee benefits
  • Identify opportunities to improve, streamline, and automate benefit accounting processes and controls
What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Strong foundation in GAAP and corporate accounting principles
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Prior exposure to accounting for employee benefits, compensation, or payroll-related accounts preferred
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience working in ERP or financial systems (e.g., SAP); experience with Alteryx, SQL, or Power Query is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive mindset with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement
What You Can Expect

  • Compensation commensurate with employee qualifications, experience, and other factors including geographic location, market, and operational factors.  
  • Pay Range: $50-65/hr. W2 non-exempt
