About This Role

Our global technology client is looking for a highly experienced technical and operational accounting consultant to manage and execute the Standalone Selling Price (SSP) revenue recognition process across all cloud product revenue streams.

 

The ideal candidate will bring strong ASC 606 and SSP expertise, along with practical operational and systems experience. This person needs to independently drive the end-to-end SSP process (analysis, methodology, documentation), translate accounting requirements to systems teams, and perform end-to-end testing to ensure data and allocations are working correctly.


This is a remote role, PST time zone, with a duration through the end of 2026, highly anticipated to extend longer-term.


Pay Range:  $85/hr-$95/hr

What You Will Work On

The ideal candidate must be able to lead and execute the full SSP lifecycle and related ASC 606 processes, including:


1. SSP Studies:

The consultant will own and execute the full SSP study process across approximately 12 revenue streams. Responsibilities include:

  • Execute the actual SSP analysis, including calculations and methodology application
  • Prepare formal documentation on SSP analysis and how SSPs were determined: procedures, methodologies, data sources, inclusion/exclusion logic, outlier analysis

2. Technical Accounting & ASC 606

  • Strong command of ASC 606 concepts beyond SSP (e.g., POB identification, transaction price, allocation, contract modifications, variable consideration)
  • Ability to write technical memos and accounting documentation

3. Operations & End-to-End Revenue Flow

  • Understand the full revenue lifecycle from order creation → systems flow → billing → revenue recognition
  • Translate contract terms and deal structures into operational and system requirements

4. Systems & Data Requirements

  • Work with systems teams to translate accounting requirements into system design requirements, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and SSP frameworks, and assist with testing/validation
  • Perform system testing and validation post-study to ensure compliance and accuracy

This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong communication and independent ownership.

What You Will Bring

  • 10–15 years of combined technical accounting, revenue accounting, operational accounting, and system-facing experience
  • Experience in industry roles (cloud, SaaS, technology, or high-volume contract environments)
  • Big 4 plus industry background ideal
  • Direct experience owning or significantly contributing to SSP analysis
  • Proven ability to partner with systems teams and guide configuration and data flows
  • Senior Manager–level presence with hands-on execution capability


Technical Skills

  • Deep understanding of ASC 606, especially SSP, allocation, and contract processes
  • Strong ability to interpret contracts and map them to system and data requirements
  • Advanced SQL skills, including writing queries and building scripts for analysis
  • Strong analytical mindset; comfortable with large, structured datasets
