About This Role
We are seeking an experienced Operational Excellence Lead to drive continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced medical device manufacturing environment. This role requires a hands-on leader with deep expertise in manufacturing operations, Lean methodologies, and Six Sigma practices who can identify opportunities, optimize processes, and build sustainable operational capabilities across the organization.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with exceptional coaching and change management skills, enabling teams to achieve measurable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.

This position requires regular travel to manufacturing sites in Costa Rica
What You Will Work On
  • Lead and execute Operational Excellence initiatives across manufacturing operations, focusing on safety, quality, productivity, and cost optimization.
  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to identify process inefficiencies, eliminate waste, reduce variability, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Facilitate value stream mapping, Kaizen events, root cause analysis, process standardization, and continuous improvement workshops.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations leadership, to deliver sustainable process improvements.
  • Coach, mentor, and train manufacturing teams on Lean principles, problem-solving methodologies, and continuous improvement best practices.
  • Develop and implement performance metrics, dashboards, and governance mechanisms to monitor operational performance and track improvement initiatives.
  • Support the design and deployment of standardized work, visual management systems, and operational controls.
  • Ensure all improvement initiatives comply with regulatory requirements and quality standards applicable to medical device manufacturing.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational discipline across manufacturing sites.
  • Collaborate closely with site leadership during regular on-site engagements in Costa Rica.
What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • +8 years of experience in manufacturing operations and Operational Excellence within regulated production environments.
  • Proven experience in the medical device manufacturing industry.
  • Candidates must hold an active Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification.
  • Willingness to travel to Costa Rica every other week (Monday–Friday).
  • Demonstrated success applying, coaching, and training Lean methodologies in manufacturing environments.
  • Strong expertise in continuous improvement tools and methodologies, including Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, DMAIC, A3 problem solving, SPC, and root cause analysis.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and change management skills.
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to work directly on the manufacturing floor and engage with frontline teams.
  • Experience working within highly regulated environments and familiarity with applicable quality and compliance standards.
  • Fluency in English required
