About This Role

RGP is looking for someone who can provide dedicated senior ownership of SAP Production Planning and manufacturing processes. This consultant will stabilize planning and production execution, address the lack of progress under the incumbent MSP, and drive improvements across MRP, production scheduling, material availability, capacity, and production-order management.

Location: Remote

Duration: 12 months

Rate: $85 - $90/hr. W2

What You Will Work On
  • Assume ownership of the SAP PP incident, enhancement, and process-improvement backlog.
  • Assess the current performance of MRP, production scheduling and manufacturing execution.
  • Review planning strategies, lot-sizing procedures, procurement types, safety stock and other MRP parameters.
  • Analyze bills of material, routings, work centers and production versions.
  • Improve production-order creation, release, confirmation, goods movement, completion and settlement processes.
  • Identify causes of material shortages, schedule instability, capacity constraints and planning exceptions.
  • Assess manual planner workarounds and spreadsheet-based processes.
  • Improve integration among PP, MM, QM, FICO, warehouse functions, engineering and plant systems.
  • Support make-to-stock, make-to-order, engineer-to-order or project-related production scenarios as applicable.
  • Address rework, scrap, yield, production variance and exception-management processes.
  • Review manufacturing master-data governance and ownership.
  • Lead functional design, configuration, testing, deployment and post-production validation.
  • Partner directly with production planners, plant leadership, manufacturing, engineering and finance.
  • Support MSP knowledge transfer and establish sustainable functional ownership.
  • Identify practical process improvements without destabilizing current production.
What You Will Bring
  • 10 or more years of SAP PP functional consulting experience.
  • Deep experience in discrete and complex manufacturing environments.
  • Strong hands-on SAP PP configuration capability.
  • Material Requirements Planning and planning-parameter expertise.
  • Bills of material, routings, work centers and production versions.
  • Production-order lifecycle, confirmations, goods issues, goods receipts and settlement.
  • Capacity planning, scheduling and material-availability checking.
  • Make-to-stock, make-to-order and engineer-to-order experience.
  • Strong PP integration with MM and manufacturing inventory processes.
  • Understanding of product costing, WIP, production variances and settlement integration with FICO.
  • Experience working with QM, PM, Project Systems, warehouse processes or MES integrations.
  • Strong manufacturing master-data and root-cause-analysis skills.
  • Proven experience in SAP stabilization, remediation or MSP transition.
  • Ability to engage directly with production planners and plant users.
  • Ability to distinguish process, configuration, data, custom-code and integration issues.

  • Preferred experience:

  • SAP S/4HANA Production Planning.
  • MRP Live.
  • Embedded PP/DS or advanced planning and scheduling.
  • Project Systems integration.
  • Variant configuration or engineer-to-order manufacturing.
  • Regulated, highly traceable or quality-intensive manufacturing.
  • Global template, plant rollout or multi-instance SAP experience.
  • SAP Fiori applications for manufacturing.
  • Integration with MES, shop-floor, engineering or quality systems.
