About This Role

Provide senior functional ownership of SAP Materials Management as our client transitions away from an underperforming MSP. The consultant will stabilize procurement and inventory processes, assume ownership of the existing backlog, resolve root causes and establish a practical continuous-improvement roadmap. This is not a transactional ticket-support role. RGP need a hands-on MM lead who can combine deep SAP configuration expertise with strong manufacturing-process judgment.

Location: Remote

Duration: 12 months

Rate: $85 - $90/hr. W2

What You Will Work On
  • Assume functional ownership of the SAP MM support, enhancement and process-improvement backlog.
  • Assess unresolved incidents, recurring defects, aging enhancements and manual business workarounds.
  • Stabilize purchasing, inventory management, goods movement, physical inventory and cycle-counting processes.
  • Review and improve purchase requisition and purchase order workflow, approval routing and release strategies.
  • Evaluate material master and supplier or business-partner data quality, governance and ownership.
  • Resolve inventory discrepancies, transaction-control issues and material-availability problems.
  • Analyze movement types, account assignment, valuation classes and automatic account determination with FICO.
  • Review MRP-relevant material settings and their integration with production planning.
  • Support subcontracting, consignment, stock transfers, returns and other applicable procurement scenarios.
  • Coordinate MM dependencies with PP, FICO, QM, SD, warehouse operations and technical development.
  • Lead functional specifications, configuration, testing, deployment and post-release validation.
  • Work directly with procurement, supply chain, inventory, manufacturing and plant stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize and improve processes rather than perpetuating legacy workarounds.
  • Support knowledge transfer from the outgoing MSP and reduce transition risk.

What You Will Bring
  • 10 or more years of SAP MM functional consulting experience.
  • Deep hands-on configuration experience in purchasing and inventory management.
  • Strong manufacturing-industry experience across multi-plant or complex operating environments.
  • Material master, supplier master and purchasing-information-record expertise.
  • Purchase requisitions, purchase orders, release strategies, approvals and workflow.
  • Goods receipts, goods issues, transfer postings, movement types and inventory adjustments.
  • Physical inventory, cycle counting and inventory reconciliation.
  • MRP integration and collaboration with SAP PP.
  • Strong MM-to-FICO integration, including inventory valuation and account determination.
  • Experience with batch-managed, serial-controlled or traceable materials.
  • Proven ability to lead SAP stabilization, remediation or MSP-transition work.
  • Experience managing support and enhancement backlogs through structured prioritization.
  • Strong functional-debugging, testing and root-cause-analysis skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both plant-level users and SAP leadership.

  • Preferred experience:

  • SAP S/4HANA Materials Management.
  • Fiori applications and flexible workflow.
  • Regulated manufacturing, medical technology, nuclear, aerospace, defense or high-tech manufacturing.
  • Global or multi-instance SAP environments.
  • Acquisition integration, template harmonization or plant rollout.
  • SAP Solution Manager, Cloud ALM, Jira, ServiceNow or similar work-management tools.
  • Experience working alongside offshore support teams or transitioning services away from an MSP.
