About This Role
An RGP Insurance Client is looking for a Consultant to execute Controllership duties in the Financial Reporting, Accounting and Statutory Reporting areas.   HYBRID THREE (3) DAYS PER WK IN TAMPA IS REQUIRED.   INSURANCE INDUSTRY EXPERTISE (LIFE AND/OR PROPERTY CASUALTY) IS REQUIRED.
What You Will Work On
  • Perform and managed and review Controllership responsibilities for a Major Insurance Company and RGP Client.
  • Lead month-end close process, including responsibility for hands-on team management
  • Manage and execute Statutory Reporting and Accounting Process (Insurance Blue Book and/or Yellow Book)
  • Manage and execute accounting and reporting functions: maintain general ledger and sub ledgers, prepare and review journal entries, review balance sheet account reconciliations, and analyze account variances 
  • Direct operational accounting, reconciliation and reporting, communicate and follow up with business partners to ensure that issues are resolved in a timely manner  
  • Ensure appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP 
  • Perform and review Financial Statement Variance Analysis and monthly and quarterly reports as required by Client’s policies and procedures, identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements 
  • Review client’s policies and procedures to ensure SOX compliance


What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree or other Advanced Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required. Master’s Degree preferred 
  • CPA or CMA Certification (active) is strongly preferred 
  • Minimum of 8 years of Accounting and Controllership Experience within public accounting firms and large organizations, including significant experience within Life & Retirement and/or Property & Casualty Insurance Companies
  • Significant experience with Accounting and Reporting close functions both executing, managing, coordinating and reviewing e.g. general ledger accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, financial statement preparation and consolidation, statutory financial reporting, variance analysis
  • Strong process improvement experience. 
  • Strong Statutory Reporting and Statutory Accounting Experience (significant understanding of Stat to GAAP Financial Statement Adjustments for Insurance Blue Book and/or Yellow Book Submissions Strong knowledge of US GAAP and ideally IFRS
  • Experience with ERP systems and strong Excel 
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills to build relationships and foster trust at all organizational levels combined with strong client service orientation

  • Compensation commensurate with employee qualifications, experience, and other factors including geographic location, market, and operational factors.
    • Pay Range: IDEALY HOURLY RATE RANGE IS $75-95 PER HOUR.  NOTE: ROLE REQUIRES HYBRID THREE (3) DAYS AT THE CLIENT SITE IN TAMPA, FLORIDA.
