About This Role

The project aims to reduce manual interventions, automate reconciliations, and improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial statements. This includes minimizing manual journals and enhancing reconciliation processes, especially related to payroll.



What You Will Work On
Key Responsibilities:
  • 50% - Month End Activities
  • Complete flux analysis & variance analysis; research and analyze significant variances
  • Resolve issues affecting GL journal entries as they arise to ensure proper accounting is recorded during close
  • Process adjustments and report any impact on JE for month end, quarter end
  • Recon activities relating to month end, such as quarter-end and month-end close
  • Enhance the quality of reconciliations and balance sheet accuracy
 
50% - Automation
  • Use SQL to extract and validate raw data from various sources for reconciliations
  • Implement automation to reduce the volume of reconciliation items and time required for reconciliation tasks
  • Identify and resolve SQL query issues and data inconsistencies
  • Develop solutions to integrate and automate data sources for cohesive reconciliation
  • Support the improvement of reconciliation goals to meet project goals and deadlines
  • Work with cross-functional teams (i.e., engineering) to optimize downstream data processes

What You Will Bring

Qualifications/Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • 10 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 8 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
  • Strong accounting experience, including a solid understanding of month-end close and reconciliation processes, especially at a larger organization
  • Proficiency in SQL for identifying errors and modifying scripts (not writing scripts from scratch)
  • Experience optimizing reconciliation processes and reducing effort through automation
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including payroll operations, HR, benefits, and engineering
  • Payroll experience is a plus

Systems: Data will be mostly pulled from SAP. It may also be pulled from their payroll system, UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group).

  • Pay Range: $80hr.
